Artificial Intelligence

AI systems that hold upin production.

Information Village designs and ships production AI for governments, NGOs and businesses across East Africa: autonomous agents, retrieval-augmented knowledge systems, and assistants trained on your own data. Our own company infrastructure is operated by AI we built ourselves, so what we sell is what we already run every day, not an experiment we hope survives contact with your users.

Capabilities

What we ship.

Five ways we put AI to work, stacked in the order we usually build them. Every one is proven by a system you can open in another tab.

01/ 06

Autonomous agents & orchestration

Multi-step task automationTool-using agents (MCP)Approval gates & audit logsSlack / WhatsApp interfaces

Agents that plan, act and verify their own work across your systems, not chat toys. RODIN, the system that runs our own company, coordinates deployments, monitoring, research and reporting through 51 tools with humans setting the boundaries. We build the same discipline into agents for your operations: clear permissions, audit trails, and a defined blast radius.

02/ 06

Assistants trained on your data

Document & database groundingCited, verifiable answersRole-aware access controlYour brand, your login

Pearl, the assistant we built for government platforms, answers questions from live registry data instead of guessing. We deliver the same for your organisation: an assistant that reads your documents, your database and your policies, cites what it used, and says so when it does not know. Deployed behind your login, in your brand.

03/ 06

RAG & knowledge systems

Embedding pipelinesHybrid semantic + keyword searchEvaluation harnessesContent freshness syncing

Retrieval-augmented generation done properly: embeddings, hybrid search and re-ranking over your real content, evaluated against questions your staff actually ask. On Discover Uganda, this turns tourism and investment data into answers visitors can act on. The difference between a demo and a system is the retrieval quality, and that is where we spend the time.

04/ 06

AI inside products

Classification & extractionMobile-money aware parsingCost-capped inferenceMeasured accuracy targets

Sometimes AI is not the product, it is the feature that makes the product work. GetMyCents reads mobile money messages and turns them into personal finance insight. FormGuard classifies contact-form traffic and blocks spam before it reaches your inbox. We scope AI features so they earn their keep: measured accuracy, graceful failure, and a bill you can predict.

05/ 06

AI literacy & training platforms

Role-gated course and lesson authoringAI exercises graded against real workCertificates with public QR verificationProgress, quizzes and cohort tracking

Teams do not become AI-capable from a workshop and a slide deck. The MCI AI Media Lab trains journalism educators and students across Uganda and Kenya on tools they run against real material: a fact-checker that scores credibility and rules on each claim, source finding, ethics and legal checks. Educators author their own courses in the browser, and every completion issues a certificate anyone can verify from its QR code.

06/ 06

Autonomous cybersecurity

Threat detection & responseAttack-pattern learningFleet-wide enforcementFull event audit trail

SENTINEL watches our server fleet around the clock, learns from live attacks, and responds without waiting for a human to wake up. It is the clearest proof of how we think about AI: give the system real responsibility, constrain it hard, and verify everything it does. If you run infrastructure that matters, this is AI you can justify to an auditor.

How we work

AI you can defend to a board, an auditor, or a donor.

Four commitments, written into every engagement - contract language, not pitch-deck language. This is what makes an AI system survive scrutiny after the demo glow fades.

Held on every engagement
01

Production first

A prototype that impresses in a meeting and an assistant that answers correctly at 2am are different products. We build for the second one: logging, fallbacks, rate limits and monitoring from day one.

02

Your data stays yours

Systems deploy on your infrastructure or ours under contract, your content is never used to train public models, and you own the code at handover. That is the default, not an add-on.

03

Evaluated before launched

Every assistant ships with an evaluation set built from real questions, so accuracy is a number we can show you, not an adjective. When the model or the data changes, the evals run again.

04

Humans stay in charge

Agents get explicit permissions and approval gates for anything consequential. Everything they do is logged and reviewable. Autonomy is earned scope by scope, never assumed.

FAQ

Common questions, answered plainly.

The way a conversation with us actually goes. Every answer is in full - nothing folded away.

You

What AI services do you offer in Uganda and East Africa?

Information Village

Autonomous agents and workflow automation, assistants trained on your own documents and databases (like Pearl on our government platforms), retrieval-augmented knowledge systems, AI features inside products such as classification and mobile-money parsing, and autonomous security operations. Everything is scoped to run in production, not as a one-off demo.

You

Can you build a chatbot trained on our organisation's documents?

Information Village

Yes, that is one of our most requested builds. We ingest your documents, policies and data, ground the assistant so it cites sources and admits uncertainty, deploy it behind your own login and branding, and hand over an evaluation report showing measured accuracy on questions your team actually asks.

You

Which AI models do you work with?

Information Village

We orchestrate multiple providers, primarily Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini, and choose per task rather than per fashion. Because our systems are built multi-LLM from the start, you are not locked into one vendor's pricing or availability, and models can be swapped as better options ship.

You

How much does an AI project cost?

Information Village

Fixed-scope AI work starts from $3,000, a product MVP with AI features from $8,000, and ongoing engineering from $1,500 per month. After one conversation about your data and goals we reply within 4 business hours with a concrete plan, timeline and cost, so you are never guessing.

You

Will our data be used to train public AI models?

Information Village

No. Your content stays in your deployment, API providers are configured not to train on your data, and we put that commitment in the contract. For sensitive government and NGO datasets we deploy on infrastructure you control, with access limited to the roles you approve.
